Over the course of a week, we recorded the soundscape inside and around the Muziekgebouw, creating a sound library containing sounds ranging from underwater recordings in the IJ to the passing trains and sounds emanating from the daily activities in this space. Music, which forms the heart of the building, was captured through the resonances of the building. By playing and re-recording these sounds back in the Atrium they are interwoven with the characteristics of the space such as natural reverb, resonant qualities, and reflections.
